The Role Responsibilities


The Lead QA & Testing works closely with HK DT&I, project delivery teams to review the test strategy and UAT test plan ensuring adequate coverage and test execution completion. Also, to strengthen the testing standards and processes with the aim to raise the quality of testing and maturity of automated UAT testing for key client journey projects coming to Hong Kong. The role is required to implement automated UAT testing for HK projects and have a good understanding of QA frameworks and risk and control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement the Automation Test Strategy and roadmap for HK.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage conflicting requirements and gain consensus on the best way forwards
  • Responsible for staff management aspects, inclusive of recruitment, talent development, knowledge retention, etc
  • Build a testing team of professionals with appropriate skills, attitudes and motivation
  • Help to build a team of competent and right skilled resources for delivering test projects efficiently
  • Manage test resources to ensure highest level of engagement possible
  • Provides regular communication and training to the team in respect to standards and processes
  • Work within Project Delivery team and support both manual and automation test activities
  • Analyze and review business requirements and user stories, test strategy and test plan
  • Comply with the bank’s System Delivery Framework and relevant testing controls
  • Plan and execute activities in relation to UAT test preparation scripting, execution and reporting
  • Design UAT test scenarios
  • Implement Test automation scripts and perform UAT testing to ensure system stability and good client journey experience
  • Perform manual and automated testing to ensure system stability and good client journey experience
  • Communicate to project stakeholders on the improvements on User Stories and client journey; reporting UAT Test Status, defects, risks and issue resolution


  • Maintain a good relationship with Group Project delivery team, business stakeholders and T&I teams.
  • Be a problem solver while actively manage the relation with our stakeholders.


  • Manage QA risk, issues, and changes as per established standards and change control processes.
  • User JIRA Boards effectively with quick filters and Jira issues filters

People and Talent

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
  • Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Risk Management

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.


  • Managing project testing in accordance with the bank’s defined agile delivery framework, complying with the Governance Policy and the System Delivery Framework
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

Our Ideal Candidate

Skills – Primary:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in testing / automation QA / test management roles
  • Knowledge of QA and testing standards, methodologies, test automation tools and processes
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux monitoring/analysis tools is advantage
  • Knowledge in Java, Git, Selenium, QTP, Cucumber and/or Jenkins is required
  • Knowledge in database skills is advantage
  • Experienced working in the Banking or related financial technology domain
  • Good communication skills, proactive, positive attitude.
  • Good stakeholder management skills in handling wide ranging stakeholders across segments/product areas
  • Experience working across globally distributed development and test teams a plus

Ideal Skills

  • Prior work experience on Retail Banking systems and online banking systems
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
